When applied properly with high quality products lashes can be almost weightless and feel natural. There are many different lengths and thicknesses available as well as many curls. So whether the client is after a beautiful, enhanced , natural look or a more glamorous, fuller, longer, look we can custom make a set of eyelash extensions to suit your needs and keep your natural lashes strong and healthy.
Care Instructions !
The following is a list of instructions to keep your lashes looking their best and to also ensure that you get as long as possible out of your set of eyelash extensions.
*Do not shower, sauna, solarium , wash or wet lashes for at least 12 hours (preferably 24 hours) after application.
*Avoid any oil based products, this includes: mascara, makeup remover, cleanser, moisturiser, serum, eye cream. If your unsure only apply creams etc up to the bone surrounding the eye. Oil will break down the bond and your lashes will start to fall out.
*Do not use any heat treatments like solariums and saunas. A simple task like leaning into a very hot oven can damage your lashes so just be aware.
*Always be gentle with your lashes, no eyelash curler, don’t sleep on them, no picking, rubbing or pulling.
*Always have them removed by a professional who will use a special remover, please DON’T try to remove them yourself,
*Have them infilled every 2-4 weeks.
*If you can’t live without your MASCARA or need one for your bottom lashes, Forever Fabulous does stock an “eyelash extension friendly” mascara. Please NEVER use a waterproof or oil based mascara .
*Brush through your eyelashes daily with a spoolie (clean mascara wand). If you don’t have one ask me for one after your appointment.
Cleaning your Eyelash Extensions
The easiest way to clean your lashes is to let the shower water gently run over your lashes daily. You can use a small brush to gently brush them through and then pat dry.
Then for a weekly deep clean you can use a baby shampoo like “johnson and johnson’s”. Use the shampoo mixed with water. I find it easiest to pre mix a small amount of the shampoo in a bottle (a foaming pump bottle is best). Then use a makeup brush or even a small paint brush to brush the mixture back and forth over the lashes, the rinse. Keep the pump bottle and brush in your bathroom and do this at least once a week for a deep cleanse.
I find the brush is best to use because makeup wipes and cotton pads can leave lint stuck in your lashes and can sometimes get stuck causing you to pull the extensions off.
There are various eyelash or eyelid cleansers on the market, just be sure whatever you are using is oil free.
Keep in mind you will use eyelash extensions when you clean them. Just like hair your eyelashes have a growth cycle and will naturally fall out with the eyelash extension attached. you will normally loose a few everyday but if you are loosing more than normal it may be that your extensions are too long or too thick for your natural lashes.
Bigger is not always better ladies!
Beware of Blepharitis !
It is very important to keep your lashes clean to prevent blepharitits.
Blepharitis is when the hair follicle becomes infected because it is blocked by the natural dead skin cells and oils.
Many people have blepharitis and have no idea. the symptoms are often mistaken for normal sleep (or eye gunk).
Some of the symptoms are:
Red, swollen or itchy eyes, or can simply look like a fine dandruff around the lash line. Blepharitis is contagious and must be treated , so if you are concerned please consult your doctor and have your eyelashes removed while you treat the problem.
It is very important that you do your homework and go to a reputable, qualified, eyelash technician. I have seen so many bad results from unqualified or unskilled eyelash technicians using cheap and nasty products or simply not knowing what they doing. Remember, we are talking about your eyes just because they are cheap or fast does not mean your getting a bargain sometimes it can work out to be more expensive long term.
